Everything you need to know before signing up — and a few things to know after.
Yes. Creating an account is completely free — no card required, no time limit. A free account includes the Module 1 video, the free Learning Path (a curated YouTube curriculum), and sample flashcards and practice questions, and it lets you browse the whole app to see what's inside.
Paid plans (Pro and Elite) unlock the rest: video modules 2-14, the full exam bank, all games and scenarios, the Ask Claude AI tutor, and analytics.
The Bookkeeping Companion is built for anyone who wants to genuinely understand QuickBooks® — not just memorize buttons. It works well for small business owners doing their own books, career-changers learning bookkeeping as a new skill, freelance bookkeepers looking to sharpen their QuickBooks expertise, and office managers who inherited bookkeeping responsibilities.
You don't need any prior experience. We start with what bookkeeping actually is and build from there.
Primarily QuickBooks Online (QBO), since that's where Intuit is focusing all new development and where the industry is heading. We do address Desktop where workflows differ significantly.
The accounting concepts — debits and credits, reports, reconciliation, payroll — translate directly between both versions. Only the buttons are different.
The video modules total about an hour of runtime across all 14 lessons. Most people stretch that across 2-4 weeks of study, combining videos with the practice exams, flashcards, and games to actually retain what they're learning.
There's no expiration. Take it at your own pace.
Yes. Pro and Elite subscribers receive a Course Completion Certificate after finishing all modules in their tier and passing the final mock exam with 80% or higher.
The certificate is a personal completion record. It's not an Intuit certification (we're not affiliated with Intuit). For official QuickBooks ProAdvisor® certification, you'd go through Intuit directly.
We offer pro-rated refunds within 7 days of any new payment (30 days for annual plans), for any reason. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal (or the "Manage Subscription" link in the app), and you keep access through the end of your billing period.
See our full Refund Policy for details.
Each account is licensed for one person. Sharing logins isn't supported — your progress tracking, adaptive practice, and personal analytics work for one learner at a time.
If you have a team that wants access, contact us about a multi-seat arrangement.
Most online QuickBooks courses are video-only. You watch, you nod, you forget half of it by next week. We built around the opposite philosophy: practice is what makes learning stick.
You get the videos, but you also get a full mock exam bank, flashcards, scenario simulator with real-world bookkeeping situations, interactive games, an AI tutor (Ask Claude) for when you get stuck, and adaptive practice that targets your weak spots. The system around the videos is what makes the difference.
Not yet for self-serve. If you have 5 or more people who need access, reach out through our contact page and we'll work something out.
A modern web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) on any device. Phone, tablet, laptop, desktop — the platform works on all of them.
You don't need to install anything. You don't need to own QuickBooks to learn from the course. If you want to follow along hands-on, Intuit offers a free 30-day trial of QBO.
Yes. QuickBooks changes regularly (new features, redesigned screens, etc.) and we update content as the software evolves. Active subscribers get all updates automatically.
It builds the foundational knowledge you need, but it's not an official ProAdvisor exam prep course. ProAdvisor certification goes through Intuit directly. This course is a strong starting point — but if your goal is specifically that certification, plan to also use Intuit's own training materials.
Yes. Payments are processed by Paddle, a PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant payment processor. We never see or store your full card details. Paddle serves as our Merchant of Record, which also means they handle sales tax, VAT, and international payment compliance.
