Intuit Bookkeeping Certification Readiness Check.

Twenty original questions organized the way the Intuit Certified Bookkeeping Professional exam is — its four official domains: Accounting Basics, Assets & Sales, Liabilities, Equity & Purchases, and Reconciliation & Financial Statements. Answer them all and get a readiness score for each domain, plus what to study before you book the exam.

These are original practice questions written by us — not questions from the actual exam, which are confidential. The real exam is about 40 questions in 50 minutes, delivered through Certiport testing centers, and the exam fee varies by test center. Sites selling "actual exam questions" are selling you a violation of the exam agreement — this checks whether you understand the concepts, which is what actually gets you through. We are not affiliated with Intuit or Certiport.

What each domain tests — a quick study review

1. Accounting Basics

The foundation everything else sits on: the accounting equation (assets = liabilities + equity), double-entry bookkeeping, debits and credits by account type, cash versus accrual accounting, and how the chart of accounts organizes it all. If this domain is weak, fix it first — the other three assume it. Our free Module 1 and the debits & credits cheat sheet cover exactly this ground.

2. Accounting for Assets and Sales Transactions

The money-in side: recording sales, accounts receivable and what an aging report tells you, handling customer payments and deposits, inventory basics, and fixed assets with depreciation. The classic traps are recognizing revenue at the wrong time and double-counting a sale when the payment arrives.

3. Accounting for Liabilities, Equity, and Purchase Transactions

The money-out side and who owns what: accounts payable and the purchase cycle, loans and interest, payroll liabilities (what you owe versus what the expense is), and equity — owner contributions, draws or distributions, and retained earnings. The trap: treating an owner draw as an expense. It isn't.

4. Reconciliation and Financial Statements

Proving the books and reading them: bank reconciliation and what to do when it doesn't balance, the trial balance, and the three core statements — what the profit & loss, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows each answer, and how they connect. Keep our free reconciliation checklist handy for this one.
